What if the Church became a place of practical provision for the people around it?
We believe God is calling His people to rediscover the wisdom of Joseph.
Not to retreat in fear, but to prepare with faith.
Not simply to store up for ourselves, but to become a source of help to our neighbors.
The Evergreen Initiative is developing a practical model to help churches build resources, teach essential skills, and strengthen their communities.
And it can begin with something as simple as one can of food each week.
The Storehouse Church Model
Store Together
Invite every family to contribute one shelf-stable food item each week.
One household giving one can a week contributes 52 cans in a year.
One hundred households can contribute 5,200 cans over twelve months.
Small acts of faithfulness can become meaningful shared resources.
-
Raise Up Stewards
Build a small team of trustworthy people to organize donations, maintain inventories, rotate food, and coordinate practical assistance.
-
Equip Families
Teach simple preparedness and self-sufficiency skills through workshops in first aid, food storage, gardening, preserving, and other useful areas.
-
Serve Your Neighbors
Become a place where families can receive practical help, trusted information, prayer, and care.
-
Connect Your Community
Partner with local farmers, tradespeople, skilled teachers, and neighboring churches to build stronger local support networks.
Three Levels of Participation
-
Seed
Begin with a Storehouse Sunday, a food collection shelf, and one designated coordinator.
-
Storehouse
Develop a steward team, regular skills classes, shared resources, and a local neighborhood support plan.
-
Goshen Hub
Grow into a community resource center with local farm partnerships, cooperative purchasing opportunities, and practical assistance for families in need.
